Siesta is an age-old tradition in the Mediterranean country of Spain. The nation shuts down for a few hours every afternoon so citizens can get a much-needed respite from the blazing summer sun.
And Ireland may very well follow suit soon, if summers keep getting hotter, according to the Irish Mirror.
According to a British think-tank, the London-based Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, Ireland may benefit from an imposed two-hour siesta every day due to excessive heat at the workplace, which poses a health and safety issue.
According to a recent study, an increase in temperature of just 6C may equal to a 27% reduction in employee productivity.
