On the Rise: Rent prices across the country see a 6.5% increase whilst Drogheda and Greystones become ‘rent pressure zones’

The towns of Drogheda and Greystones are the latest areas to have become rent pressure zones.

The news comes after the Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy revealed that rents across the country have risen by 6.5% from June 2016 to June 2017.

It is thought rents in Dublin rose by 3.3%, from March to June this year, whilst both Drogheda, Co Louth, and Greystones, Co Wicklow have experienced sharp increase over the past 12 months.

Mr Murphy said rent prices in those particular areas have risen drastically in the past year making them two of dearest places to live in the country.

It is thought the rent prices which are above national average in both towns, have risen due to landlords altering rent agreements after home improvement and renovation works were carried out.
