One Final act – Outgoing Taoiseach Enda Kenny green lights dedicated Garda stations at Dublin Airport and Dublin Port in an effort to combat any potential terrorist attack





The former Taoiseach Enda Kenny may have officially stepped down from his role within the Dail yesterday, but the Co Mayo native did fulfil his cabinet duties until his last day it has been revealed.

Mr Kenny who has been criticised for a number of mishaps during his six year tenure as Taoiseach has apparently implemented one final act within the past month even though he knew his time was coming to an end.

The former Fine Gael leader who handed over the reigns to Leo Varadkar this week has reportedly given the go ahead for both Dublin Airport and Dublin Port to have new purposely dedicated Garda stations on site.

It is understood the Garda stations will house a number of officers at all times in the case of potential terrorist attack. The new security measures which are part of ramped up security efforts which are being carried out by the Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald and the Garda Commissioner Maureen O’Sullivan come in the wake of the recent Manchester and London terroist attacks.

Under the heightened security plans both the Gardai and the Defence Forces will see recieve more personnel who will carry out co-op counter terrorism training.
