Investigative journalist Gemma O’Doherty has stirred controversy and provoked the ire of leftist keyboard warriors online after she posted a tweet about Ireland’s migration problem.
O’Doherty, who has been active in exposing corruption and injustice in the country for several years, tweeted the following
“More than 1 in 3 15-year-olds in #Ireland is an immigrant, ahead of France, UK and Germ. 1 in 3 on social housing lists is migrant. 1 in 3 new homeless is a migrant. 1 in 3 live in consistent poverty. FG/FF/SF/PBP/Sol/SocDem’s multicultural #Ireland is a disaster #MigrationPact”
This statement is said to be in accordance to data compiled by the OECD and the European Commission.
This situation is likely to be greatly exacerbated after Ireland’s signs up to the United Nations-backed global pact on migration next month. Ireland will sign the pact with little fanfare and virtually no debate.
This is despite the fact that 8 other EU member states as well as Switzerland and the US have rejected signing the agreement.
However it would appear that, in Ireland any criticism, regardless if it’s factually correct, is not considered politically incorrect and met with derision from online PC trolls and media pundits.
