One of the country’s leading supermarkets Aldi have announced that they will introduce a new minimum wage of €11.50 an hour




One of the country’s biggest supermarket chains Aldi Ireland has confirmed that they are to introduce a new minimum rate of pay of €11.50 an hour.

The news comes after the company announced extended profits this year. It is believed the new wage structure will come into effect on 1 February 2016, the rise marks an 4.5% increase in pay for store assistants and a 10% increase for stock assistants and caretakers.

Meanwhile Aldi CEO Matthew Barnes welcomed the news saying: “We are committed to offering the best pay and benefits in the industry.” “The success of Aldi in Ireland has been driven by the commitment, hard work and ambition of our employees and we will continue to maintain our leading position on pay.”
