Yesterday’s budget saw another price hock on cigarettes of 50c.
The new budget price will see the price of an average packet of 20 cigarettes go up to a staggering €11 per packet.
The astonishing price is being seen as a feeble effort by the government to stop people in smoking.
Instead, social media users took to the internet to voice their distain.
“We’re an easy target, always throw a couple of cent onto the cigarettes”, said Rita Dwyer on Facebook.
” I might try and give up at some point, but that’s for me to decide not a nanny State”, posted Fidelma O’Hagan.
