There is widespread outcry in Drogheda recently after residents of the Co Louth town have uncovered news that notorious killer Mickey ‘The Monster’ Murphy has been secretly vistiting his hometown in recent months upon his impending release.

The savage killer who brutally raped and murdered German tourist Bettina Poeschel back in 2001 has reportedly been seen visiting the town in recent months dispite the anger of many local residents.

It is thought the notorious killer could be allowed to leave prison after just 12 years of his life sentence.

Murphy came to the attention of the nation after he savagely attacked the German tourist Bettina aged 28, in September 2001 whilst on her way to Newgrange.

It is believed that the predator Murphy, 55, had picked up the Journalist just outside Donore Co Meath, before he raped and strangled her. Murphy then dumped her body in a nearby ditch after which he allegedly returned to have sex with her deceased body.

According to a local source the news of Murphy’s impending release is just shocking: “This man is dangerous beyond belief. This is Larry Murphy multiplied by 10.

“They couldn’t pin murder on Larry, Mickey Murphy killed two women and attacked two others… that we know of… and they are letting him out, they’re letting out a serial killer.”

Murphy is also known to have strangled another local resident, 65-year-old Kitty Carroll in Drogheda back in 1983, but he only spent 8 years in prison for manslaughter.

The angry source went onto explain: “He’s as close as you’ll get to a natural-born killer.

“This guy doesn’t know why he does it, he just has to kill and he’ll do it again if he gets out.”

Meanwhile the Prison Service confirmed Michael Murphy did in fact visit Drogheda on May 1 last and on another date late last year.
