Disgraceful: Thousands of people are removed from Dublin social housing list after failing to answer questionnaire

There is outrage amongst many Dublin citizens this morning after a recent report found that over 3,500 people have been taken off the social housing list after they failed to answer a questionnaire.

The shocking revelation comes after Dublin City Council revealed that many applicants have been removed from the list after they failed to answer the questionnaire which was was sent out in the post last July.

The council say the move was compulsory given that the questionnaire asks specific questions to the applicant regarding their need for social housing accommodation.

However many Dublin City residents have complained about the council’s move saying they never received a letter in the first place.

Although the council have stated that some letters might not have reached the applicant especially in circumstances were they changed their address in the past year. They have however said that people can have their applications re-examined if they contact the council before 31 March and can prove they still qualify for social housing
