A reader got in touch with The Liberal this morning to show us the true extent of the hospital waiting list nightmare. A total of 714 people were on trolleys around the country yesterday.
She told us that around 9:30pm last night, the A&E waiting area of the hospital was completely packed with literally no seats free.
Up to 20 patients were forced to stand at the reception window with many sitting on the floor up the short corridor to the entrance to the emergency area.
“I know there’s one seat in front of me free in the photo, that’s because a man was in the toilet when I took the picture. He told the guy sitting next to him to mind his seat which two people asked could they sit there when he was in the toilet”.
“It was quite a hostile atmosphere, people were tired and their voices were raised. There was children in the adult waiting area as the area dedicated for the children was packed.”
“It was absolutely awful, everyone was giving out about Simon Harris. He seems to be out of his depth. One woman said he seems obsessed with abortion and wants nothing to do with the waiting list. Harris is a joke”.
“My hope is that people will share this image and make it go viral in an effort to show the true extent of the disaster the hospital trolley crisis really is. I had to wait over 5 hours before I was seen, I was starving, tired and needed urgent medical attention. Simon Harris should be ashamed of himself”.
