Over 2,000 concerned women called the HSE helpline set up to deal with the fallout of the misread cervical tests

Minister for Health Simon Harris is under major pressure this morning after it was revealed some 2,000 women are concerned about their previous smear tests.

A HSE helpline setup in the wake of the catastrophic mistakes made in cervical checks has received no less than 2,000 calls.

Some social media users are claiming that Harris is too obsessed with pushing for abortion on demand rather than deal with either the smear test fallout disaster or the trolley crisis.

It is understood that at least 206 cases are under review after further tests revealed that the initial ‘all clear’ results may have been incorrect.

Minister for Health Simon Harris has said that he ‘does not know’ how many women may have died after their cervical test results were misinterpreted by medical authorities in recent years.
