Over 6,000 customers still without power this morning as ESB continue to repair the damage caused by storms Ophelia and Brian

According to reports this morning there is still around 6,000 homes and businesses without power following storms Ophelia and Brian.

In a statement released over the weekend the ESB say they along with crews from both the UK and France have worked relentlessly throughout the course of the past week to restore power to over 360,000 residents across Ireland.

However the comapny has said restoring power in some regions particularly more rural areas has been more difficult given the extent of the damage caused by high winds during both storms.

A spokesperson for the company said they hoped to have almost everyone reconnected by the end of this week and that some regions in Cork and Wexford will have to wait a little bit longer.

Meanwhile the comapny will be boosted by the news that the country will experience more calmer and drier conditions over the coming week ahead.
