Over 630 Irish citizens deported from Australia since 2016

A total of 636 Irish citizens were deported from Australia since 2016, it has emerged today.

The reasons for deportation ranged from overstaying a visa, visa cancellation, a visa that was not valid, or for being of ‘no good character’ due to criminal convictions or participation in criminal activities locally or elsewhere.

Thousands of Irish people emigrated to Australia following the financial crash here 10 years ago.
