There is panic amongst the Brussels elite that run the EU tonight as it is confirmed that Czech anti-EU populist Milos Zeman has been re-elected President.

Zeman defeated a pro EU academic Jiri Drahos, after running on a platform of strict migration controls and closer ties with Russia and China as opposed to further integration into the EU.

President Zeman has even suggested that the Czech Republic may hold a Brexit style referendum on EU membership. He has previously blocked Czech adoption of the Euro.

There has been a rising mistrust of the EU in the country after the bloc tried to impose migrant quotas.

This is yet another headache for the EU who while attempting to centralise more power into fewer hands in Brussels has been met with rising anti-EU populist movements across the continent.
