Parents breathe a sigh of relief as controversial SimSimi bullying app is disabled in Ireland




Parents of young children across the country can breathe a sigh of relief this evening as the highly controversial SimSimi App has been disabled to users here.

The app which has caused controversey in recent days has reportedly been rendered unusable after a number of complaints were made by concerned parents and schools nationwide.

The app has led to many to voice their concerns after a number children beacme distressed after using the app which displays insults generated by an anonymous chatbot.

According to the DCU Anti Bullying Centre, the app is still available to download but it isn’t currently working in Ireland.

A spokesperson for the centre said: “Once you interact with it, it actually gives you that message that says: “I do not talk in Ireland for awhile, and it seems to be followed by a quote and this changes each time, many of which seem to be related to being nice to one another.”

“So the app does seem to be not interacting with Irish users at the moment.”
