Party all Night: Fresh calls are made to introduce longer opening hours for nightclubs

The country’s DJ’s and promoters have once again issued a plea to the Government in which they call on them to reconsider the prospect of longer nightclub hours.

Although the call has been made by a number of organisations in the past, it is believed the latest call comes as those working in the industry feel their business and work is being hampered by the current opening hour restrictions.

The call which is being led by the ‘Give Us The Night’ campaign group is calling on the state to consider allowing nightclub hours to be extended to 5am.

It is understood the group are willing to forego the sale of alcohol at later hours in order for the current restrictions to be lifted.

The group also say Irish nightclubs have one of the earliest closing hours in the entire EU with most nightclubs closing between 2:30 and 3am.

They added lifting the current restrictions would offer huge potential in the night time industry.
