Paying the price for power: New figures show Ireland has the fourth highest electricity prices in the EU




Irish citizens pay more than their EU counterparts for their electricity each month a new report has found this week.

According to a new report published by the European statistics agency Eurostat, the Irish people pay on average 13% more on their electricity bills each month than other residents in other leading EU countries.  

The detailed report which was published this week showed that that Irish electricity customers spent 23.1 cent per kilowatt for electricity used. 

It also revealed that only Denmark, Germany and Belgium have higher electricity prices, however if you exclude tax and VAT Ireland is the second dearest place for electricity in the entire EU.
