A campaign has been launched by social justice activists in the United States to force the creators of The Simpsons to abandon one of the most popular characters of the show Apu Nahasapeemapetilon.
They claim that the character is offensive to South Asian people yet have not taken such an approach to other stereotype lampooning characters such Scotsman Groundskeeper Willy or the local red-neck Cletus.
The creator of The Simpsons, Matt Groening, has hit back at the selectively overly sensitive social justice warriors stating that “I think it’s a time in our culture where people love to pretend they’re offended.”.
