Pet owners warned as an epidemic of missing cats continues throughout Ireland

Pet owners are warned to be vigilant as foul-play is suspected in the recent epidemic of missing cats throughout the country.

There are over 90 reported cats missing presently, and fears of malicious intent are growing.

Pet store ‘Pet Connection’ tracked the recent disappearance of cats and concluded that “something malicious” is definitely going on.

Worries include the involvement of stolen cats in dog fighting competitions, or other cruel activities .

Unlike pedigree dogs, cats are unlikely to be sold, which heightens the mystery.

Further fears exist of a copycat of the ‘M25 Killer’ in the UK, notorious for dismembering over 250 cats.

Along with the recent storms and Halloween festivities, it is already a traumatic time for pets.

Owners are reminded to keep their pets in a safe and comfortable environment.

Animal charities around Ireland are inundated with emergencies, under strain and working from low budgets.

If you believe an animal is being cruelly treated or neglected, please call the ISPCA on 1890 515515.
