Presidential hopeful Peter Casey has accused the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar of going against the spirit of the constitution following recent comments about him.
Mr Casey who has found himself the subject of criticism in recent days over comments about travellers, said the Taoiseach knows that he is not a racist but yet he made it his prerogative to get involved in the presidential process.
The presidential candidate’s comments come after he issued an open letter on his social media page stating that he attends on remaining in the race until the very end.
Mr Casey who has also been given overwhelming support by the public, also said that he found the Taoiseach’s comments deeply hurtful and offensive.
He added “I do not believe that there was anything offensive in what I said”- and “I only simply pointed out that everyone should be treated equally”.
