The online petition to keep Uber operating in the British capital has surpassed 500,000 signatures in little over 24 hours, making it the fastest growing petition in the UK this year so far.
The petition arose in the wake of the decision taken by the London transport authority, Tfl, to not renew Uber’s licence after September 30th.
The decision to axe Uber was taken after the ride sharing company was deemed ‘not fit or proper’, and also over ‘safety concerns’.
Uber has announced intentions to appeal this decision.
