Underwater search devices have reportedly picked up signals believed to be from the doomed AirAsia flight’s flight data and voice recorders. The location of the pings matches the area where the tail of the aircraft was found.
Divers are today trying to reach the source of the signals. If the devices are recovered, investigators would likely be able to piece together exactly what happened on the fateful flight.
AirAsia 8501 went down in bad weather in the Java Sea on 28 December, carrying 162 people on board.
There were no survivors.
