Authorities in the US have confirmed that an Emirates flight from Dubai has been detained for quarantine at JFK Airport in New York after a number of passengers reported feeling ill.
The Emirates flight 521 was arrived at the airport at approximately 9am local time with around 100 passengers complaining they were feeling ill.
In a brief statement released this afternoon the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said the plane had been taken away from the main terminal and those on board were being attended and treated by CDC personnel.
According to reports in the US a number of passengers have complained of having a cough and a fever.
Meanwhile the CDC say that although they are currently awaiting on results from test samples, they say early indications suggest that the passengers could have contracted a strain of the flu virus.
