Police charge man after flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Belfast International Airport

Police in Belfast have confirmed that they have charged a 42-year-old man for causing endangerment to the safety of others on a aircraft.

Officers from the PSNI were called to Belfast International airport yesterday after man caused a disturbance on a United Airlines plane which was en route from Rome to Chicago. It is believed that the man caused the disturbance whilst the aircraft was over north-west Scotland, the captain was subsequently forced to make an emergency landing at Belfast International Airport.

The man who has not been identified, was arrested and later charged by police for causing disruptive behaviour on board the aircraft and common assault.
He is currently being detained at at Antrim police station and is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates Court tomorrow.
