Police in the North arrest 25 people and seize a number of hard drives as part of an operation targeting those accessing child pornography




Police in the North have confirmed they have arrested a total of 25 people as part of a major operation targeting those who are accessing indecent images of children online across Northern Ireland.

The arrests come after a number of officers from the PSNI have been conducting a series of search’s across Northern Ireland over the last few months. It is understood the PSNI have taken appropriate “steps to safeguard and protect 32 children involved in the crimes” The also Sa they have seized a number of items – including hard-drives during the operation. Since the arrests it is believed that four men have appeared before court to date facing charges relating to child pornography, whilst the remainder have been released on bail as investigations continue.

Meanwhile the Detective Chief Superintendent George Clarke of the PSNI’s Public Protection Branch has released a statement regarding the operation saying: “The message is clear for those who continue to exploit children online,” “You leave a digital footprint when you are downloading, viewing, making indecent images of children and we have the capacity, capability and determination to catch you and bring you to justice.”
