Police in the North have launched an investigation after a man aged in his 20s was shot in North Belfast in the early hours of this morning.
It is understood the man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and he had a number of facial injuries.
Police investigating the incident say the shootings occurred in the New Lodge area approximately 1.30am.
His condition has been described as critical but stable.
