A police officer has been shot dead in the locality of Tarpon Springs, Florida, US.
The incident took place at around 3pm local time. Official sources have confirmed that a suspect has been apprehended.
The shooting comes less than one day after two New York police officers were shot dead in ‘execution’ style as they sat in their vehicle.
These incidents, while not yet proved to be linked, are thought to be retaliatory attacks for the recent deaths of black men Eric Garner and Michael Brown in confrontations with white police officers.
