The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar mightn’t be in the job a year but he has managed to come off quite weak in various events of late, especially with President Donald Trump, but today’s revelations have surpassed that.
Varadkar is contemplating throwing 17 Russian diplomats/workers out of their Dublin embassy in the wake of the UK spy murder last week which Russia is getting the blame over.
The UK and the EU are blaming Sergei Skripal’s murder on the Kremlin and Varadkar appears to be playing lapdog to both the UK and the EU by his latest move.
Ireland has 11 diplomats/workers in its Irish embassy in Russia and no doubt they would be getting the first flight home if such a move takes place.
Russian Ambassador to Ireland Yury Filatov was interviewed by RTE News and conveyed that such a measure would be perceived as an extremely unfriendly move and that was him putting it lightly.
Whatever side of the political aisle you stand in, one thing is for sure – Leo Varadkar is absolutely no match whatsoever for Vladimir Putin and he needs to thread extremely carefully with his threats towards Russia.
