Pope Francis has canonized two shepherd children of the Fatima apportions.
He said in front of an estimated 500,000 people;
“We declare the blissful Francisco Marto and Jacinta Marto saints,” to loud applause.
It’s been 100 years since three Portuguese children reported seeing the Virgin Mary while minding their sheep. The third is also on the way to sainthood.
The 500,000 worshippers gathered in the town of Fatima, just outside Lisbon, for the ceremony yesterday afternoon, the Vatican said in a statement.
Roman Catholic pilgrims have visited the Fatima Sanctuary from countries as far away as China, Venezuela and East Timor for the last century.
