The President of the United States Donald Trump met the leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, today at a private meeting the Vatican in Rome, Italy.
The meeting is said to have lasted around 25 minutes with both parties declaring it to be an honour and indeed a pleasure to meet the other.
The meeting is said to have been “very productive and successful” and that there had been an “exchange of views” on international issues, and the need to continue good relations.
The two men have in the past clashed on issues such as migration, climate change and a Mexico-US wall but President Trump said afterwards they had a “fantastic meeting” and that “Pope Francis is a very humble man”.
