The annual Famine Commemoration Ceremony will take place at Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin today.
President Michael D. Higgins and Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Heather Humphrey will be in attendance.
The event will include the unveiling of a new Famine Memorial, and also prayers of remembrance, military honours, and a wreath-laying ceremony.
