US President Donald Trump has come out with unwavering support for Italy in its dispute with the EU over illegal migrants and its budget.

Breitbart reports that President Trump tweeted saying he spoke to Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and said he supports their stance “100%”.

Brussels rejected the Italian governments budget as it increases expenditure on public infrastructure in the wake of the Genoa bridge collapse that killed 30 people.

However, Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini has said that Italy “will not change one comma” in relation to its budget regardless of what the EU says or does.

The Italian government is also taking a much tougher line on migration as the country has seen over 600,000 migrants cross the Mediterranean to its shores, putting huge strain on the economy and public services.

Italy has also seen a sharp rise in crime and anti-social behaviour with the arrival of hundreds of thousands of African migrants, the vast majority of whom are young men.
