Princess dumped from British line of succession after conversion to Catholicism

Princess Alexandra of Hanover from Monaco has been removed from the British Family’s line of succession after she converted to Catholicism.

The 19-year-old princess, who is the grand-daughter of actress Grace Kelly, was in line for the Crown of both Monaco and Britain due to her ancestry.

While she is no longer the 17th in line to become the English Queen, she remains 12th in line to become the monarch of Monaco.

According to the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, heirs to the British Crown may marry Catholics but a Catholic is still forbidden by law from becoming head of state of the UK.
