Members if the public in Co Galway have been given great praise after their quick thinking helped save the lives of a group of youths on Friday.
The RNLI say a potential tragedy was thankfully avoided at Galway’s Hare Island after members of the public noticed the group were cut off by the rapid incoming tide.
Although thankfully the youths were picked up by an RNLI lifeboat a spokesperson for the crew said the situation could have been a whole lot worse if wasn’t for the quick reactions from a concerned member of the public who raised the alarm by contacting them immediately.
It is understood there were no serious injuries obtained during the incident and the young men are said to be doing fine.
