The public have once again been urged to conserve water supplies as high temperatures across the country have seen water levels at reservoirs, lakes and rivers have significantly drop.

The latest warning comes as Irish Water have been forced to impose water restrictions in Co Longford until Monday at 7am.

Although the restrictions will come in from 10:30pm, Irish water say water tankers have been sent to Granardkille Cemetery and residents have been urged to stock up on supplies.

Meanwhile Irish Water have warned further restrictions could be imposed as the Greater Dublin area and other areas including Donegal, Galway, Limerick and Mullingar have already seen a shortage in water supplies.

The latest warning comes after Ireland experienced its warmest day of the year as temperatures of 29C have been reported in some areas across the country.
