The public have been urged to stay away from both Dollymount and Sandymount strands after they were officially closed by Dublin City Council.
The beaches closure comes after a sewage spill occurred on Thursday due to heavy rainfall.
It is understood sewage to spill was caused after it flowed onto Sandymount Strand from the River Liffey.
A council spokesman has said water samples have been taken and results are expected on Monday.
