Commuters face major disruption in Dublin this morning as rail services in and out of Heuston are restricted due to an overnight incident.

A fatality was registered on the line between Sallins and Newbridge, and Gardai requested the suspension of services to facilitate a technical examination.

Irish Rail confirmed that no commuter services will run between Sallins and Portlaoise this morning. Also, intercity trains between Kerry, Galway, Limerick, and Westport will all terminate at Kildare, with bus transfers to Heuston available. Services from Waterford will finish at Athy, and road transfers to and from Heuston will also be available.

Full service is not expected to be restored until after the morning peak time, at least.
