Ireland has experienced some glorious weather over the past few weeks which may go down as a summer to remember, but it seems the tropical conditions have gone for the time being as forecasters say rain and cooler conditions are on the way.

According to Met Éireann the country will experience some cloudier and cooler conditions over the next few days with the odd downpour expected throughout.

Although there will be no significant rainfall, the national forecaster say persistent showers are expected throughout the week with the worst coming from Wednesday onwards.

Met Éireann say today and Tuesday will see some showers particularly in the North of the country, but it will be relatively dry throughout with temperatures ranging from 16 to 21C.

The outlook for Wednesday and Thursday will be slightly different as persistent downpours are expected in many areas with temperatures expected to range between 18 to 21C.

However the outlook for the beginning of the weekend is looking promising as Friday is expected to see some sunny spells throughout the day.
