According to recent a report it is understood that there has been a dramatic increase in the number of adults waiting longer than eight months for a hospital procedure.
The report states that almost 9,700 people were waiting for a procedure eight months or longer. Figures obtained in report also state that there was a sharp increase by the end of September an increase of 11% of people awaiting a procedure the largest in a single month. The HSE has responded to the report by saying that the trend will continue until at least the end of this year.
It also reported a 42% increase in its spending on agency staff despite a slight increase in the number of people working for the HSE itself.
