There has been a sharp increase in the number of people looking to apply for an Irish passport following the Brexit referendum.

It is understood a large group of people with Irish ancestry descended onto the Irish Passport Office in Kensington & Chelsea, on Friday seeking to apply for Irish citizenship.

Figures suggest nearly six million people living in Britain are thought to be eligible for Irish citizenship.
