Rescue 116: Hopes continue for missing crew members as major sea search fails to locate any trace




A major sea search off the north west coast which took place yesterday has not shown any trace of two remaining missing crew members of Rescue 116.

Over 110 boats took part in the day long expedition to try and locate any traces of the two men, Ciarán Smith and Paul Ormsby.

The search included rescue units from member clubs of the Irish Underwater Council (IUC) along with the RNLI and Coast Guard crews.

The IUC also had 14 teams from around the country along with 18 Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) and over 70 members trained professionals.

The search also includec RNLI lifeboats from Ballyglass, Achill, Sligo, Bundoran and Arranmore, and the Killybegs and Killala Coast Guard.

The coast guard are now looking at further options to try and locate the men.
