Rescue services praised after two teenage girls are rescued from the River Shannon




Rescue services in Co Limerick have been praised for their heroics after two teenage girls had to be rescued from the River Shannon last night.

The actions by Swiftwater rescue firefighters have been praised after their quick thinking managed to rescue the two younger girls after they became trapped at Metal Bridge, Long Pavement, at approximatley 9pm on Tuesday night.

It is believed that the rescue teams were on the scene in a matter of minutes after a member of the public alerted emergency services after the two girls became trapped by the incoming tide.

Thankfully the two girls were rescued within a matter of minutes after rescue teams dispatched an emergency life boat to their location.

It is believed the two teenagers recevied treatment for shock at nearby hospital, but thankfully they did not suffer any major injuries during the incident.
