The miracle of life happens on the strangest of places.
A woman has given birth on board the Irish vessel LÉ Niamh this afternoon. The baby, named “Destiny” was successfully delivered by Irish medics aboard the ship.
It is understood that mother and baby are doing well. They have both been transferred to an Italian Coast Guard boat to be taken to Sicily, so they can receive post-natal care.
