You almost need to brace yourself to read how much RTE’s top 10 presenters get paid a year.

The combined salaries make up just over €2.5 million, something that RTE are actually happy about.

The salaries were released by RTE for the year of 2014 and had been reduced by 40% since 2008, an extra 10% that they hadn’t agreed to, according to RTE.

At that time, Pat Kenny was almost getting a ludicrous €700,000 per annum.

Tubridy’s is down to a pittance… He’s “only” on €495,000 a year, or just under €10,000 a week – almost €1,500 a week more than someone on social welfare makes in a year.

Our TV licence fee goes to the following top ten:

Ryan Tubridy (€495,000)
Joe Duffy (€416,893)
Marian Finucane (€295,000)
Sean O’Rourke (€290,096)
Miriam O’Callaghan (€280,445)
Bryan Dobson (€195,816)
George Lee (€179,031)
Richard Crowley (€174,120)
Colm Hayes (€169,992)
Derek Mooney (€168,871)

Do you think the salaries are a fair reflection for the work the presenters do?
