A review of over 46,000 scans is underway at University Hospital Kerry, after concerns were raised over the validity or accuracy of a number of diagnoses arising from the interpretation of the scans.
The time period under review is March 2016 to July 2017, and it involves the review of X-rays, ultrasound, and CAT scans.
It is understood that there were initial concerns about scan interpretations by a particular employee, who no longer works at the facility.
Patients affected came from Kerry, Cork, and Limerick.
