As the Dáil nears the end of its term, a major Garda operation is in motion to deal with potential trouble around Leinster House this evening.
A large contingent of uniformed Gardai and riot squads are on standby to avoid a repeat of last week’s chaotic scenes which saw several ministers being trapped by protesters inside their vehicles.
Notably, Garda trucks containing holding cells have been deployed, and the Garda helicopter is flying overhead to spot potential outbreaks of violence.
The main protest was due to begin at 6pm this evening.
