One of the most legendary characters of not only James Bond, but of the film industry itself, actor Richard Kiel has passed away.
The 7ft 2″ giant of a man was the true essence of the saying “gentle giant”. He was loved by fans and movie goers alike who watched him eat steel and fall in love in “The spy who loved me” and “Moonraker”.
He was especially good friends with Roger Moore, the James Bond of the day and whom many believe the pair served as the most entertaining good guy/bad guy duo.
He rose to fame after being spotted when he worked as a Los Angeles nightclub bounce. An agent saw the potential for a bad guy when this towering giant of a man asked him for I.D.
He will forever live on for all the James Bond fans who no doubt, are like Sir Roger Moore today when he said he “can’t believe it, totally distraught”.
