Road crash in Drogheda leaves one dead and three injured

A woman motorist has sadly lost her life and three other people have been injured after a collision between a car and a truck this morning.

The incident happened at around 6am on the R512 Drogheda to Duleek Road in Co. Louth.

The two vehicles reportedly collided head on. The truck veered off the road after the collision, went through a ditch, and came to a halt inside the yard of Irish Cement in Platin, Drogheda.

Four people, two males and two females, were traveling in the car. One of the female occupants was pronounced dead at the scene, and the second female remains in a serious condition in hospital. The injuries on the two males are not thought to be life – threatening. All four were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the accident.

The road remains closed until further notice.
