The European Parliament has passed new legislation concerning the sharing of information about motoring offences committed in a different state.

This new law essentially means that police forces across Europe will soon be in a position to share data and enforce prosecution, even if the offence took place in a different country within the European Union.

Ireland, along with Denmark and the United Kingdom, will have to implement this new law within two years.
