Road Safety Authority claims there was a 4% reduction in road deaths in 2018 in comparison with 2017

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has reported a 4% reduction in the number of road deaths this year, in comparison with 2017.

According to the report, 2018 has been the ‘safest’ in terms of road fatalities since records began in 1959.

One-hundred and forty nine people lost their lives in road accidents in 2018.

Some social media users have been angered by Minister for Transport Shane Ross’ latest “invention” by proposing a hefty increase for speeding fines and also harsher laws for L-Drivers.
