Rosslare Harbour lifeboat crew praised for their heroics after they rescued three men from a yacht stranded off the Wexford coast




Rescue services in Co Wexford have confirmed that three men have been rescued from a yacht which got caught up in the high winds caused by storm Ophelia.

According to RTE News the three men were successfully brought to safety shortly after 2pm this afternoon after rescue crews were able to reach the yacht which was stranded off the Wexford coast.

It is believed the crew onboard the yacht got caught up in the storm in the early hours of this morning but they were unable to reach the shoreline despite issuing a mayday call.

Reports say the Rosslare Harbour lifeboat, under the guidance of the a six man string successfully managed to rescue the men despite battling prevailing winds which pushed the stranded yacht further out to sea.
